At 74 I will become the oldest person to attempt to motorcycle around the world solo, fulfilling a dream I have nurtured for decades and paying tribute to my grandfather’s heritage of founding the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix back in 1929.
With one brilliant stroke he put Monaco at the heart of International motor racing, enhancing the country’s attractiveness, reputation and image. Monaco has become synonymous with F1.
The Monaco Grand Prix is the most watched F1 race in the world. It is the most important event in Monaco bringing in direct and indirect annual revenues of around Euro 100 million not mentioning all the exposure. It is the last surviving vestige of the legend of Monte Carlo.
Throughout my motorcycle trip around the world I will take every opportunity to promote my grandfather’s legacy and Monaco’s perennial place in Motor racing. This trip will also serve as my farewell tour of the USA and Latín América, a continent i have a great affinity to, in my official capacity as attaché to the Monaco Embassy in Washington and foreign relations advisors for Latin America. These years have been so fulfilling I will miss it dearly.
